Dogs are NOT vegan. They are natural carnivores, that means they eat meat, the large canine teeth are an indicator of that fact. They will eat other types of food only in extreme cases purely for survival, but those foods do not provide the proteins and such that meat has in a form that can be metabolised properly by their bodies.
Not providing their natural diet is cruelty. It forces them into survival mode and their bodies can start to deteriorate due to lack of proper proteins etc that they can metabolise.
How would you like it if someone forced you to eat nothing but hay every day? It would keep you alive… JUST.
Personally, I would like to see people like you prosecuted for animal cruelty. Just because you make a specific life choice, don’t force it on an animal. Humans are omnivores and can live on meat and/or vegetables and therefore, you have a choice. Most animals are more specific in their diet, they are either carnivores or herbivores, only a few animals are omnivores. If you don’t like feeding meat to your pet, get a pet that naturally doesn’t eat meat or an onmivorous one that can naturally live on vegetables (a pig for example), you can feed it as many veggies as you like then.

One thing I can suggest is if there’s a local butcher, shop for meat there if you want to give your dog a fresh food diet. Local butchers retain their meat from local farmers, you can ask them that, local farmers, unlike big corps, love their animals. They treat them with kindness, just watch Youtubers who own small farms, there isn’t an inkling of mistreatment.
Sure, it might be weird that they’re so okay with the idea that their cows and pigs will one day pass on to a dinner plate, but, they see things differently, and it likely helps them from becoming too emotionally invested to the point of self damage.
TL:DR: If you’re so anal about a fresh diet, go to local butcher if you have one, and get meat from them for your dog to eat, local farmers don’t abuse their animals like a big corp might. Bam, no cruelty diet for your dog.

If they fed them on seeds their young would die. Sounds like bird-brains know better than you.

Just because you are lucky and your species can, with care, survive on a vegan diet. So could your pet tortoise. But your pet shark couldn’t, and neither could your pet wolf. Well now, you have a pet wolf — feed him like a pet wolf. Or get a tortoise and give the wolf away.

Your dog needs to be a Vegan-by-Proxy. In other words, the vegan diet on which you want to feed it needs to be processed by an intermediate animal first, like a chicken or lamb or cow before your dog can benefit from it. It can’t live on veggies alone, it’s designed to eat a balanced diet which includes meat. To deny it those essential nutrients is to malnourish your pet and slowly kill it. I thought vegans were opposed to animal cruelty ?
Actually you can’t live on veggies alone either. Make sure you are getting the trace minerals and vitamins which veggies lack, otherwise you will begin to suffer from malnutrition too, most commonly shown by developing psychological problems - paranoia and hyperactivity. Get the appropriate supplements !

Simple. Give the dog real meat, and stop being an idiot.
If you look at what canines eat when they are in the wild, they eat meat as a preference. Look at the wild dogs in African countries, dingos in Australia, wolves and feral dogs. They all eat meat. Feeding a dog a plant based diet is not a healthy option for your animal.
You obviously think its cruel or whatever to eat meat yourself? That’s your choice, but you dog doesn’t have a choice, but it would be better off eating meat. If you cannot handle that don’t have carnivores, omnivores as pets.

But here's a thought. If you're vegan, and don't support animal cruelty, you shouldn't own a dog. Dogs are descendants of wolves. The best thing you can do for that dog is take it to a no kill shelter and let someone take it home that will love and care for it properly.

I feed my dog a meat based kibble but she loves it when I add a little bit of vegetable broth. You can give that a try. I only add about a tablespoon and I don't heat it up. Please make sure that your dog gets enough protein and supplements as needed. They are opportunistic omnivores but lean heavily towards carnivore.

two of the last three dogs I had would not eat fruits or vegetables. My last dog standing, a 15 yr old mixed terrier will eat anything that I hand her. She eats orange, mango, corn, well like I said anything that I give her. Try mixing in buttered (Earth Balance) corn or something similar once in a while.

You are not only killing your dog, you are torturing him first. The torture of a dog should be a capital offense. Forget about flavored vegetables, you don’t deserve a dog. He is a carnivore and will die without meat. If your mental illness prevents you from providing proper care and nutrition to a carnivore, the poor suffering dog needs a new home with sane intelligent people able to comprehend “carnivore”.

A dog is not a vegan and cannot live a full and healthy life on a vegan diet. That is why you cannot buy commercially available vegan dog food, because it is not healthy. You cannot season his food to make it taste better, he’s not interested in it because it does not contain the nutrients he needs.
Stop abusing your dog. Feed him a proper diet or rehome him to someone who will.

Please either feed your dog a species appropriate diet or rehome him. Dogs and cats can’t choose what food they have and it’s the owner’s responsibility to feed their pets the diet they need.
If you don’t want to support animal cruelty, good for you, but that doesn’t mean your dog can go vegan: Period. Unless your dog has a medical condition that needs him to be vegan, there’s no reason that a healthy dog with no health problems (skin issues etc) should ever eat vegan pet food.

My vegan dog isn't into his food. How do I flavor it so it tastes better? He hasn't been eating enough and I can't give him animal product since that would support animal cruelty.

I stopped eating meat many years ago, but didn’t know til last week there were vegan dog and cat foods.
I suggest checking those out, carefully trying them and if your dog doesn’t go for it, switch back to normal dog food.
Part of being a responsible vegan/vegetarian or someone for less animal cruelty is recognizing your own part in it and minimizing your own participation.

Yes, cruel. If you can't bring yourself to handle food containing animal products, then rehome your dog, and to a home which knows how to properly care for him.
